On August 2, a crowd of people chose to gather inside the darkened High Noon Saloon in Madison rather than be outside in the warm, sunny weather. Filmmakers and film enthusiasts were there to watch the premiere of Living Storm Productions' short film, "Freud" and to screen a showcase of 12 short independent films. The event, hosted by Living Storm Productions, celebrated the growing film community throughout southern Wisconsin.
At the end of each of the three screening sessions, the audience was invited to ask questions of the filmmakers on stage, creating a connection between the two groups. Near the end of the event, engaged viewers then voted for their Audience Favorite. The winner was "The Death Drive" by Moonflower Productions, directed by Michael Bourne and Kyle James. Runner-up was "Dinosaur" by filmmaker Spencer Ortega.
Encouraged by the attendance and enthusiasm for the event, Living Storm Productions, Madison's largest film production company, plans on holding more independent short film showcases in the future.
